Jordanian bankers society stops exchanging Shekel
Jordan-Israel, Economics, 11/2/2000
The Jordanian bankers society decided to stop dealing with the Israeli currency shekel, Kuwaiti news agency KUNA reports quoting a Jordanian newspaper. Arabic daily "Al-Dustour" said the decision was made in support for the Al-Aqsa uprising currently taking place in the Palestinian occupied territories to confront the Israeli forces. The society asked all its members to adhere to the decision in solidarity with the unarmed Palestinian people and children who are facing the Israeli brutality.
Exchanging shekel was very limited in Jordan.
