Egypt-Israel, Economics, 11/2/2000

The chairman of the federation of the Egyptian chambers of commerce Khaled Abu Ismael stressed in Cairo on Wednesday that the volume of trade exchange between Egypt and Israel will recede to Zero during the coming year, adding that this volume does not exceed now 50 million Egyptian pounds.

He told journalists on the sideline of works of the Arab committees forum at the international chamber of commerce that "the Egyptian private sector takes into account the critical political conditions we launch in the Arab- Israeli conflict and then adopt initiatives towards initiating any sort of cooperation."

He explained that the lists of names of collaborators with Israel were not precise, noting that there is any economic Egyptian- Israeli cooperation at the meantime and that cooperation in the past was limited.
