Six Palestinians killed, 91 wounded, three Israeli soldiers killed in Wednesday's confrontations

An Israeli military spokesman announced on Wednesday that three Israeli soldiers were killed and other four wounded during confrontation with the Palestinians in the West Bank.

Meantime, the Palestinian side announced that 6 Palestinians were killed and 91 wounded by Israelis in the confrontation that took part with the Israeli forces in various parts of the West Bank and Gaza.

As the Israeli forces tightened its siege on the Palestinian cities and deployed tanks into these areas, the Israeli prime minister Ehud Barak renewed his threats to intensively use the military forces to eliminate the uprising.

Meanwhile, when Israeli military sources announced that Gaza airport will be kept shut for security reasons, the Israeli planes continued to drop statements and warnings on that they will strike the cities of Beit Jala, Beit Sahour and Bethlehem who are close to occupied Jerusalem, if the uprising continues. The united leadership of the uprising issued a statement in which it stressed continued resistance until the restoration of the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people and the establishment of the independent Palestinian state with holy Jerusalem as a capital.

On Wednesday the Israeli forces closed down four schools in al-Khuder village near Bethlehem and therefore deprived more than 2000 children from receiving their education.

On the political field, the Palestinian negotiator Saeb Erekat has ruled out the convening of a US, Palestinian and Israeli summit in Washington during next week.

The chairman of the media institute and Palestinian studies in Ramullah Mustafa al- Barghouthi said that the US is not anymore fit to be the neutral broker in the peace process.

In this context Erekat called for finding out a mechanism to force Israel to abide by the implementation of UN Security Council resolutions 242 and 338, stressing that the " problem at the meantime lies in the continued Israeli aggression against the Palestinian people."

On the other hand, the director of Barak's office Jalaad Sheer said that the Palestinian President Yasser Arafat was the one who asked for a date to meet with the Israeli minister of regional cooperation Shimon Peres.

To this effect, the Palestinian national resistance movement, Hamas expressed its opposition to any moves made by Aarfat to resume negotiations with Israel.

The US ambassador to the UN Richard Holbrooke described the Palestinian proposal to send a UN military observer force for protecting the Palestinian civilians as a biased and unilateral proposal.

The German Chancellor Gerhard Schroeder stressed the right of the Palestinian people to self determination on their own native soil.

Schroeder explained on Wednesday following his meeting with Arafat that the Presidium of the European Union when it met in Berlin recognized this very Palestinian rights.

Concerning confrontation, five Palestinians were killed in al-Aqsa uprising by the Israeli forces gun- machine fires.

Medical sources at al-Shefaa hospital said that the Israeli soldiers opened their fire against the Palestinian youth Ibrahim Rizq ( 15 year old) of al-Shate ( coast) camp in Gaza and he was hit in his chest during the confrontation at al-Mintar crossing in which 30 Palestinians were wounded 12 are seriously wounded.

Other 16 Palestinians were wounded in confrontations that took place in Khan Yunis, besides other five in the city of Rafah, to the south of Gaza and in Deir al-Balah city at Kfar Daroum settlement. One is seriously wounded.

Earlier a Palestinian medical source announced that the Palestinian Wael Ghneim ( 26 year old) was killed after he was hit by the Israeli soldiers in the confrontation in al-Khuder village, near Bethlehem in the West bank.

Another Palestinian medical source said that one police man was killed as he was hit by the Israeli bullet in the confrontation between the Israelis and the Palestinian in the same al-Khuder village.
