Agadir to have a Marina
Morocco, Business, 11/1/2000
The Moroccan southern Atlantic city of Agadir will have a marina that will include several tourism compounds.
The project, to cost some 660 million DH (about $66 million), will be co-financed by Saudi businessman Ali Zaid and his associates, Moroccan investors.
The Marina will include a five-star hotel with a 250-room capacity, a 250-flat hotel-residence (800 beds) and a residence for air and navy personnel.
The project also provides for the construction on the quays of restaurants, coffee shops, shops and other facilities and the creation of a leisure center and the first sea resort club of the city that will propose to tourists several sporting activities such as fishing, scuba diving and others. The club will provide the necessary equipment and monitors will supervise the activities.
Local authorities are projecting to connect the marina and the city's Kasbah through a téléphérique.
According to businessman Ali Zaid, negotiations on the management of the complex are underway with an international holding.
