The German Chancellor Girhard Shroeder arrives today in Damascus in a two-day visit to the country in the course of his current tour on the Middle east region. The German Chancellor will hold talks with the Syrian prime minister Muhammad Mustafa Miro on bilateral relations. President Bashar al-Assad will also receive the German Chancellor and give a banquet in his honor. Go

Sultan Qabous Bin Saeed of Oman has appointed two ladies at the Oman's state council and thereby total number of women members at the council in its next session will increase to five. Go

Bangladesh's prime minister Huseinah Wajed starts today a three-day visit to Kuwait. Bangladesh's foreign minister Abdul Samad Azaad told journalists in Dacca on Sunday that during Sheikha Huseina visit a memorandum of understanding will be signed between the two countries on sending Bangladesh's labor force to Kuwait. The Iraqi Thawra newspaper, which speaks for the Baath party, warned yesterday the Islamic summit to be held in next month in Doha of repeating what took place in the extraordinary Arab summit that was held in Cairo, seeing that the Islamic summit will only result in a weak statement than the one resulted in the Arab conference and this will not be for the good of the Palestinian cause because it leads to dissent the Palestinian national line and pushing the angry people to despair and frustration. The Iranian maritime forces affiliated to the revolutionary guards and army began large maneuvers in the Gulf named 'unity 79' and said that it carry a peace a message to the area's countries to enhance the unity and security and another message to support the Palestinian people's upheaval.
