King Mohammed launches flea-market re-development

Morocco's King Mohammed VI launched in Casablanca Monday re-development and construction works of the city's flea-market "Kriaa," located in the "Al Fida" district in Casablanca.
The king unveiled the commemorative plaque and heard explanation on the project meant to relocate 2,400 shops, re-house 15 households and transfer and relocate 575 business from the Sidi Othmane area.
The two-year first phase of the undertaking named "Bir Anzarane" covers 2.3 hectares and will cost about 11 million USD.
The re-development of the whole "Kria" site will cover over 9 hectares, take six years and cost about 60 million USD. Besides a total of 1,945 housing units and 2.400 shops, it includes schools, mosque and city hall annex.
