Garang welcomes discussion with El-Torabi
Sudan, Politics, 10/30/2000
Yaser Arman, the spokesman of the public movement for liberating Sudan said yesterday that his movement is ready to get into a discussion with the Public Conference party and he considered Hassan El-Torabi's conversation about the movement the day before yesterday as a positive progress.
Arman said "if we were negotiating with the ruling party for a just peace and a real democracy according to the basis accepted by the democratic national alliance, we see that the discussion comprises the Public Conference."
El-Torabi said that communications are taking place to arrange a meeting with Garang and he considered Garang as not being a dissenter, while Arman said in answering a question whether his move will welcome the joining the Public Conference party to the alliance "our welcome depends on the results of the discussion and the alliance's decision."
Ahmed Omar, the secretary general of the ruling national conference party strongly blamed El-Torabi's decision concerning boycotting the presidential and parliamentary elections and depicted the decision of being as "running away from the battle and a proof on the weakness of the Public National Conference party."
