A German company to put border markers between Saudi Arabia and Yemen
Saudi Arabia-Yemen, Politics, 10/30/2000

The Saudi Minister of the Interior prince Nayef Bin Abdul Aziz has stressed that his country and Yemen have agreed to choose the German company "Hanza " to put border markers between the two states according to the treaty signed between the two countries in June in Jeddah.

In a joint press conference with the Yemeni minister of the Interior lt. Gen. Hussein Arab they held on Sunday in al-Riyadh, the Saudi minister said the company will work in an area of 600 Km extended from the sea until Thaar mountain, which is a small mountainous area.

Replying to a question on the fate of the Yemeni refugees who resorted to Saudi Arabia in 1994, who were the leaders of what was called Southern Yemen, the Saudi minister said that his country does not accept any political asylum seeker to practice any acts in Saudi Arabia. He expressed his conviction that most of these Yemeni political asylum seekers are outside Saudi Arabia. He stressed that Saudi Arabia does not accept to be a passage nor a headquarters for violating security in Yemen.

During the two past days, the ministers of the Interior in Yemen and Saudi Arabia held three sessions to take necessary arrangements to revitalize the border demarcation treaty and its appendixes. The treaty was signed in Jeddah on June 12.

On Sunday the two sides signed a joint minutes of meeting and then the Yemeni minister left al-Riyadh back home after he headed the Yemeni delegation to the meetings of the joint technical committee meetings.
