Israeli chief of staff sees no danger in the Iraqi forces' movements

General Shaoul Mofaz, the Israeli chief of staff, underestimated yesterday the danger which Israeli might face due to the latest moves by the Iraqi forces toward the Jordanian borders.
He said to the Israeli army Radio that "these movements do not form a danger to Israel's security, and in any event, the Iraqis know that we will retaliate if necessary," seeing that there is a sort of exaggeration in the significance of these forces' moves which he believed will soon return back to their previous positions.
Yadiot Ahranot, the Israeli daily lately referred to that Israel is concerned toward the moves of an Iraqi military line toward the Syrian - Jordanian borders, assuring that Israel and U.S.A intensified the communications in anticipation of a military operation that might aim at Israel adding that the Americans and the Israelis warned the Iraqi President Saddam Hussein through European countries to persuade him not to interfere in the conflict between Israel and Palestine.
