Algerians support opening the borders with Morocco

Most of the Algerians showed their support to the idea of reopening the land borders with Morocco while some others expressed their refusal to this procedure.

This came in a referendum that was published in Liberte newspaper as 53,9% in the referendum support reopening the borders while nearly 34,8% had reservations and nearly 11,2% refrained from expressing their opinions.

However, in areas close to the borders with Morocco where the border was closed in 1994 due to the attack on Atlas Asni hotel in Marrakesh (Morocco) blamed on Algerians, the poll said there is a near equal number of people of those who favor opening the border to those who want to maintain the status quo.
