Some 1200 Israeli prisoners instead of Palestinian workers

The Israeli industrialists society on Wednesday signed an agreement with the Israeli prisons administration which avails for employing " public right " prisoners to replace the Palestinian workers.

The chairman of the small and intermediate enterprises of the Israeli industrialists society Shloumo Menachim said " we will be able, according to the agreement, to employ120 public right prisoners to cover a small part of the vacuum created by the evacuation of the Palestinian workers" in the West Bank and Gaza. He added: " the matter is linked to prisoners who have the criteria needed for this kind of work and those whom we want to get involved into the society. Helping them will not solve our problem but will alleviate certain risks in certain sectors."

However, some 100,000 Palestinian workers were used to go every day to work in Israel secretly or according to legal permits before the closure of the Palestinian territories following the confrontation between the Palestinians and the Israeli forces on September 28.
