Turkish president denounces violence in the holy lands
Turkey-Israel, Politics, 10/26/2000

the Turkish President Ahmed Necdet Sezer denounced the Israeli violence in the Palestinian lands assuring that Sharon's visit to al-Aqsa mosque was unjustifiable and depicted it of being irresponsible provocation, adding "we can accept what is happening for our Palestinian brothers in the holy lands."

This came in Sezer's speech during the opening of the 16th session of the permanent committee for the commercial and economic cooperation affiliated to the Organization of Islamic Conference .

Yet the insistence of the Turkish officials in the committee on that the concluding statement of the session not tackle the events in the Palestinian lands or denounces Israel led to a large controversy among the delegation the most of whom insisted on tackling this subject.
