Bahrain closes schools in which Americans study
Bahrain-USA, Politics, 10/25/2000
The US embassy in Manama announced on Tuesday that the Bahrain school in which American students are mainly studying was closed temporarily because of the tension resulted from the confrontations between the Palestinians and the Israeli forces in the Palestinian territories.
News reports in Manama quoted the embassy as saying that the school was closed to assess the need for taking additional security measures in light of the continued tension in the Arab region, hoping that the school will be opened later this week.
The embassy also urged the American citizens to avoid large aggregations, noting that the US administration has evidence that persons might plan to carry out acts against American citizens and interests in the Gulf region and Turkey.
