Morocco launches international tender for oil prospecting
Morocco, Economics, 10/23/2000

Morocco launched on Monday in London the first international tender for oil prospecting in the Rabat-Safi offshore 31,090 square km zone.

Amina Benkhadra, general manager of the Moroccan official of oil research and exploitation (ONAREP) presented before some hundred oil and engineering companies representatives the new energy policy, the new seismic data, legal and fiscal provisions and eligibility conditions for participation in the international tender.

Benkhadra's travel to London is part of Morocco's promotion of oil exploration. It is taking place after several British companies voiced interest in conducting oil prospecting in the Moroccan Atlantic shore.

Results of the tender, to close on April 30 2001, will be made public on July 30, 2001.

After London, she will go to Houston, USA, on the same mission.
