An Algerian diplomatic source in al-Riyadh said the Algerian President Abdul Aziz Butaflika will hold talks with the Saudi King Fahd Bin Abdul Aziz and the crown prince Abdullah on " the current conditions in the Arab world and prospects of bilateral cooperation in various fields," the Saudi official news agency said. Lebanese President Emil Lahoud on Wednesday received a telephone call from Canada's prime minister Jean Chretien. Talks dealt with developments in the region, the situation in South Lebanon as well as bilateral relations in all fields. Go

On another development the Israeli warplanes on Wednesday broke the sound barriers over the Lebanese capital Beirut. Lebanese security sources said the Israeli warplanes continued its sorties in the Lebanese airspace until al-Bekaa district. Go

The UN general assembly on Wednesday started a meeting on the Israeli aggression against the Palestinians. Palestine's representative to the UN Nasser al-Qidwa has renewed his assertion that the Israeli authorities had committed war crimes against the Palestinians. al- Qidwa remarked that the Israeli aggressions against the Palestinians constitute a grave violation to the Geneva convention on protecting civilians in times of war. The Jordanian daily al-Dostour issued on Wednesday said that there is an intention among the Jordanian parliament members to submit a new memorandum to the speaker of the Jordanian parliament on drafting a law to abrogate a peace treaty between Jordan and Israel. Go

The office of the Kuwaiti minister of information Saad Bin Taflah al-Ajamai has stressed that the minister of information has submitted his resignation to the ruler of Kuwait Jaber al-Ahmad al-Sabah. The office gave no mention to reasons behind the resignation. Go

The political bureau of the Sudanese Ummah party has unanimously decided the return back of the leader of the party al-Sadeq al-Mahdi to the country in the mid of November. Go

The Turkish news agency Ikhlas has quoted " the defense news" paper as saying that Turkey is developing a local computer in collaboration with Israel to use it in military helicopters King Copra which Ankara will get from the US " Bill Helicopter Textron ". The Turkish agency added that Textron has proposed to Turkey to cooperate with the US Industries in carrying out the project. Go
