Al-Assad discusses with Saudi king Arab developments
Saudi Arabia-Syria, Politics, 10/18/2000
King Fahd Bin Abd al-Aziz of Saudi Arabia received the Syrian president Bashar al-Assad and the U.S Secretary of State Madeleine Albright.
Also, the Algerian president And El-Aziz Bu Taflika arrived at Riyadh today.
Riyadh is witnessing an Arab and international move as President Bashar al-Assad held talks with the Saudi king and crown prince Abdullah Bin Abd al-Aziz that tackled forming a strong Arab front to confront Israel, its movements, its threats to Syria and Lebanon. They also discussed the coming Arab summit and the coordination which always takes place among Cairo, Riyadh and Damascus.
There was a three-way meeting for the foreign ministers of the three countries (Saudi Arabia, Syria and U.S.A) to discuss these developments.
Al-Assad's visit coincided with a visit by Madeleine Albright during which she met the Saudi king and the crown prince.
The sources said that Albright's visit aims at informing Saudi Arabia with what took place in Sharm El-Sheikh and to the attempt to push forward the Arab summit and prevent it from taking a strong position against Israel.
