French Jews criticize Israel
Palestine-Israel, Politics, 10/18/2000
In the first European Jews stand denouncing the Israeli policy towards the situation in the Palestinian territories, some 60 intellectuals representing Jewish- French societies denounced the " emotional blackmailing " policy pursued by the Israeli officials to " gain solidarity."
The intellectuals held the Israeli officials politically responsible for the violence taking place in the Middle east.
In a statement released in Paris on Tuesday, the signatories, including former member of the French resistance Raymond Obrak; the political leader Daniel Bin Saeed, the former director of the " Sans frontier doctors" Rony Bruman; the widow of the former French Premier Pierre Mandis France and the historian Pierre Fedal Naki said that " they are not used to express their ideas on the ground that they are Jews." They added in their statement: " the leaders of the state of Israel, when they claim they talks on behalf of all Jews in the world, they also claim they speak on our own behalves, in spite of our nose." They added " we refuse " emotional blackmailing to win solidarity aiming at legalizing the holy political unity of the rulers of Israel."
They called on Israel to revive the peace process which is achieved through implementing international legitimacy resolutions and recognizing a Palestinian state which enjoys sovereignty and the right of the expelled Palestinians to return to their land."
