Moroccan childhood association calls for end to massacre of Palestinians
Morocco-Palestine, Politics, 10/17/2000

The Moroccan association of assistance to childhood and family has called the UN secretary general, Kofi Annan, and the President of France, Jacques Chirac, acting chairman of the European Union, to intervene immediately to put an end to the slaughter of Palestinian civilians.

In cables to Annan and Chirac, the association condemned the Israeli aggressions against the Palestinian people, "victim of deportation and exile and prey to aggression and slaughter on their own territory."

It denounced the arbitrary killings perpetrated by "Zionist forces in violation of all legal principles and international conventions."

The massacre of Palestinians had been vehemently denounced by Morocco, its government, people, political parties and ngos and the emergency session of the Moroccan child parliament held here over the weekend was dominated by debates on the situation of Palestinian children, victims of the Israeli barbarous acts.

The young parliamentarians voiced deep affliction at the massacres and denounced the barbarous behavior of Israeli soldiers against helpless Palestinian children.

Nearly 30 Palestinian children were killed and hundreds were injured in less than three weeks of clashes in the West Bank and Gaza. The current round of violence that claimed more than 100 deaths, mostly Palestinians, broke out after Israeli right-wing Likud party leader Ariel Sharon's visit on September 28 to Temple Mount, a holy site both Muslims and Jews.
