Morocco, Economics, 10/16/2000

A white book on Morocco's economic assets meant to inform and attract investors has just been issued and its circulation started in France before being made available in fifty other countries.

The white book-- by the Moroccan finance department in cooperation with the Paris-based Center for the promotion of trade exchanges (CEPEI)-gives exhaustive information on the kingdom from a general presentation to details on the country's infrastructure, economic environment, investments and other practical information.

CEPEI told MAP bureau in Paris that data will be regularly updated and the book will be issued every year in three volumes, the first dealing with the kingdom's profile and the Moroccan society, the second with the country's economic environment while the third will deal with Morocco in the world (foreign relations, investment laws, economic potentialities etc`)

Moroccan premier, Abderrahmane Youssoufi, stated in the preface that the government has set itself to institute economic and social rules to serve as a foundation to a balanced national development. He said the government is keen on speeding up economic reforms that will set an investment-conducive economic environment and adapt to the stakes of overture and globalization.

Minister of economy, finance, privatization and tourism, Fathallah Oualalou said in a presentation note that the publication is "meant to enhance the impact of communication action on the enterprise in Morocco" and to "illustrate the genuine opportunities" provided by the Moroccan economic and social space.
