Children's parliament winds up emergency session
Morocco, Culture, 10/16/2000
The Moroccan children parliament wound up in Rabat Sunday its emergency session underscoring priorities for the kingdom's children, in preparation for the youth regional meeting of Amman.
The session helped debate results by four committees on "abuse and protection from exploitation and poverty," "children's rights culture and communication," "education, health, invalidity and sexual education" and "children's legal protection in times of war, embargo and exodus."
MPS aged 15-18 came up with solutions and proposals to settle the issues and recommended repressive laws against abuse and wider children's rights education. They also urged for implication of children in all decision-making when it comes to standards, rights and medical, school and social coverage for children.
Four children (two girls, two boys) were designated to represent the kingdom in the Amman meeting, Oct.29-Nov.1, in preparation for the Children's International Summit slated for 2001 in New York.
