Saudi Arabia, Economics, 10/16/2000

Saudi trade minister Usama Jafar headed today to Geneva on top of the Saudi negotiation delegation concerned with Saudi Arabia's joining to the World Trade Organization.

During this tour, a series of the bilateral negotiations will be held with the main commercial partners of Saudi Arabia concerning goods and services.

The discussions will focus on revising the draft report, the joining protocol, discussing the steps taken by Saudi Arabia to carry out the work plans for joining, the suggested timeline for applying the agreements concerning the organization and the transitional periods as well as required flexibility to apply these agreements.

It is worthy to mention that Saudi Arabia is the only country of the Gulf cooperation council countries which did not join the organization.
