The Palestinian crisis and the Arab states
Regional, Politics, 10/16/2000
An Israeli military source has said that the Arab states have realized that a continued Palestinian crisis will lead to the deterioration of the region as a whole and to instability inside the Arab states.
In a report it made on Sunday, the Israeli radio said that convening the Arab summit before calming down conditions might force the Arab states to take "extremist decisions" that this summit does not want to take.
The said Israeli military source said that the question of Palestine might lead to the grave deterioration of conditions in the Middle East as a whole, adding this deterioration might find an expression for itself on the Lebanese arena despite the fact that calmness prevailing the Israeli- Lebanese borders is very sensitive and can change at any moment.
