International mutual insurance firms association close general assembly in Fez

The XXI th general assembly of the international mutual insurance firs association wound up in Fez Friday adopting 1999-2000 activity reports and electing new committee for two years.

Participants elected Bent Knie-Andersen (chairman of ALM-BRAND, Denmark) to the presidency and eleven other committee members representing Japan, Italy, Senegal, Spain, Holland, Denmark, Finland, France, Chile and Egland.

The next general assembly of the associated will be held in 2002 in Bordeaux.

The Amsterdam-based association set up in 1963 boasts 193 members and seeks to promote mutual insurance worldwide.

Participants to the Fez assembly agreed on the need to contribute to long-term investments, back-up enterprise, and promote action in research, health, culture, arts, and training. They hailed the move by the Moroccan Mutual Agriculture insurance "MAMDA" which earmarked 1.2 million USD for spotlights for the city monuments, technical schools construction and training in rural areas.
