Moroccan association, party, hand request to end of ties with Israel

A delegation from the executive bureau of the Moroccan association of support to the struggle of the Palestinian people on Friday handed Premier, Abderrahmane Youssoufi, a request to "severe all relations with Israel and immediately close down the Israeli liaison office in Rabat."

The delegation also "renewed call for more material support to the Palestinian people."

Youssoufi stressed the Moroccan government and people's backing to the Palestinian cause and which was reflected during the march staged last Sunday in Rabat.

Hundreds of thousands of Moroccan marched through the streets in downtown Rabat to show solidarity with the Palestinian people against the heartless Israeli crackdown.

Morocco on Thursday called back its representative in Tel Aviv for consultation following the deterioration of the situation in the region.

Meantime, The political bureau of the Moroccan party for Progress and Socialism (PPS/in government) Thursday called for "freezing all ties and contacts" with Israel, said a party release ran by Al-Bayane Daily.

"In view of Israel's refusal of negotiations as a means to reach a fair and lasting peace, the PPS political bureau calls for freezing all ties and contacts with Zionist state," said the release, circulated at the end of the PPS weekly meeting.

"The PPS renews its denunciation of the obsolete Zionist policy and appreciates the standpoint of Morocco, which called back its representative in Tel Aviv," the source said.
