Annan talks with Arafat on a four-way summit in Egypt within 48 hours
Palestine, Politics, 10/14/2000

U.N secretary general Kofi Annan talked in his meeting last night with the Palestinian President Yasser Arafat about convening a summit in Egypt within the coming 48 hours to end the violence in the occupied lands in the participation of the concerned parties.

Annan agreed on attending this summit yet he asked for more consultations with his leadership and that he will call again to inform him his final decision concerning this matter.

While Nabeel Abu Rodinah, the Palestinian president's advisor, said in answering Annan's declarations "it is early to talk about convening Sharm El-Sheik summit because its convening conditions are not available, emphasizing on the necessity of stopping the Israeli assaults and the Israeli forces before talking about anything else."
