Egyptian boy flees his family to join the Palestinian Intifada
Egypt-Palestine, Politics, 10/13/2000

The Egyptian daily al-Joumhoreyah said on Thursday that an Egyptian boy ( 12 year old) fled from his family's house heading for Sinai in order to try to reach from there the Gaza strip to take part in the Palestinian " al-Aqsa Intifada."

The paper quoted the father of the boy Ahmad Sharawi and one of his friend that he left the school and took the coach until al-Areesh in the hope to cross Rafah border point with Gaza strip.

His friend Kareem said: " Ahmad was in a very bad psychological mood since he saw in the TV the photos of Muhammad al-Durra (12 year child killed) while dying in his father's hands " by the Israeli bullets.

On Wednesday evening Ahmad Sharawi was found in Rafah just few kilometers from the borders with Gaza strip and he was returned back to his family.

The Jordanian " al-Arab al-Youm" said last week that a Jordanian boy, ( also 12 years old) fled from his house in order to fight the Israelis.

He was carrying several knives and US $ 14.
