El-Baz: Arab summit aims at restorning peace to the area
Egypt, Politics, 10/12/2000

Usama El-Baz, the political advisor of Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak assured yesterday that "there are steps that must be taken to guarantee the non escalation of the violence between the Arabs and Israel, referring to that some countries in Europe were effected with what happened."

Concerning forming an investigation committee of the events in the occupied Palestinian lands as has been demanded by the Palestinian president, El-Baz said the inclusion of members only from the U.S.A is unjustifiable and it is logical that other countries participate in the committee's formation to avoid partiality, clarifying that "we will agree on the formation which will satisfy the Palestinians."

Concerning the Arab summit, El-Baz expressed his hope in positive results to confront "the (current) catastrophic events" and that the summit aims at creating an atmosphere for the peace process and that Israel should avoid these negative events."
