Lebanese officials criticize Annan's regarding Israeli captives
Lebanon, Politics, 10/12/2000
The Lebanese officials criticized Kofi Annan, the U.N secretary general, due to his declarations that the capture operation by Hezbollah of three Israeli soldiers is a violation of resolution No. 425.
Hezbollah chief Hasan Nasrallah refused to meet Annan after his declarations and international sources said that "the Lebanese president informed Annan with the anxiety of Lebanon and Hezbollah toward his declarations in Tel Aviv and that the lands in which Hezbollah carried out the capture operation are occupied Lebanese lands and Lebanon has the right to demand releasing the Lebanese captives in the Israeli prisons."
A source in Hezbollah said "exchanging the captives is a humanitarian process" while the Iranian foreign minister Kamal Kharazi said "there are Iranian captives that must be released and that they are Iranian diplomats that were previously kidnapped by the pro Israeli Lebanese forces from an area in north Lebanon and handed to Israel which did not announce any thing concerning them."
