Another 255 Sudanese flee from Libya
Libya-Sudan, Politics, 10/12/2000
A new shift of Sudanese workers arrived on Wednesday in al-Khartoum fleeing acts of violence imposed on the Africans in Libya since one month.
The Sudanese independent daily "Akhbar al-Youm" said that some 255 Sudanese have left Libya and expected other 3,000- 8500 in the coming days. The paper explained that the fleeing of these Sudanese came after a decision taken by the highest legislative and executive side in Libya to launch a campaign against foreign labor force in Libya.
Meantime, the Sudanese foreign relations ministry stressed that one Sudanese was killed as a result of acts of violence in Libya while news reports talked about the killing of tens of Sudanese in the past weeks.
The Libyan President Muammar al-Qaddafi held " enemy hidden hands" responsible for the attacks. But he gave no explanations to whether those who are responsible for the acts of violence are local opposition or not Libyans.
Worthy mentioning hundreds thousands of emigrants from the neighboring poor African states flew to Libya in recent months after President al-Qaddafi expressed his desire to establish an African federation including the African states.
