Al-Assad saw off al-Qaddafi, gets messages from Mubarak, Kutchma, Arafat and Blair

Damascus on Tuesday was a center of intensive and active political move regarding the Israeli escalation and the state of Arab public's rejection to the Israeli aggressions.
Libyan President Muammar al-Qaddafi left Damascus on Tuesday following a visit which lasted four days and he was seen off by President al-Assad and at the Syrian - Jordanian borders by Syrian vice- President Abdul Halim Khaddam and other high ranking Syrian officials.
On Tuesday morning President al-Assad met with the Egyptian Foreign Minister Amr Moussa who was accompanied by the Egyptian ambassador in Damascus Ahmad Ismael. Talks dealt with current events taking place in the region and current contacts regarding them on all levels.
Al-assad also received a telephone call from Palestinian President Yasser Arafat during which talks dealt with conditions in Palestine and the crimes committed by the Israeli occupation forces against the Palestinian people.
Al-assad denounced these Israeli aggressive acts against the Palestinian people, the religious sites in Israel. He held Israel full responsibility for the grave conditions in Palestine and on the borders with Lebanon and stressed that Syria has stood and will stand with the national rights of the Palestinian people.
Arafat expressed thanks to the President over Syria's stand in support of the Palestinian people to restore back their rights.
President Bashar al-Assad also received a telephone call from the British prime minister Tony Blair during which talks dealt with the critical conditions in the region resulted from the Israeli acts of violence.
Al-Assad also held Israel fully responsible for the events and critical conditions in the region. Blair told al-Assad he will delegate a special British envoy to Damascus. The delegate is the British foreign office secretary Robin Cook.
Similarly the president received the deputy prime minister in Ukraine who handed over a message to President al-Assad from President of Ukraine on bilateral relations.
Talks dealt with bilateral relations and the desire to develop them in various fields. Talks also dealt with the tense conditions in the region due to the Israeli aggressions against the Palestinian people and the holy sites in Palestine and the provocation made against Lebanon.
The Ukraine official said that his country has been always backing the efforts made by Syria for maintaining stability in the region and calling for a solution on the ground of UN security council resolutions 242 and 338 and the land for peace formula.
The visiting official arrived in Damascus on Tuesday morning leading an official delegation in a visit which will last for several days.
He will meet with several officials and hold talks on bilateral cooperation between Syria and Ukraine in all walks of life.
