Kuwaiti nationality for 1000 of al- Badoun

The Kuwaiti government announced on Sunday its initial consent to give 1000 of al-Badoun (stateless individuals) and their families the Kuwaiti nationality.
This was expressed in a statement issued in conclusion of the weekly session of the Cabinet in that the government will announce its final consent next Sunday before debating the decision on the Emir of Kuwait Sheikh Jaber al-Ahmad al-Sabah for approval.
More than 100,000 of al-Badoun live in Kuwait. Hundreds of them who said they were expelled from Kuwait, observed a sit in on the Iraqi- Kuwaiti borders to demand their right to return back to Kuwait which described this sit-in as " a media campaign."
In May the Kuwaiti national council ( parliament) approved to give 2000 of al-Badoun and their families ( all total 10,000) the Kuwaiti nationality.
The statement said that the government studies more applications to complete the number of al-Badoun set to be given the Kuwaiti nationality before the end of the current year.
