Cohen meets Tunisian president
Tunisia-USA, Military, 10/7/2000

William Cohen, the U.S Secretary of Defense met the Tunisian President Zein El-Abidin Bin Ali and Tunisian defense minister Mohammed El-Gham who visited Washington last summer.

Cohen is visiting Tunis in a tour comprising Italy and Greece as he has previously visited and some Arab states.

Some high ranking military delegations visited Tunis in the last months and Tunisian military sources assured that there is no relation between Cohen's visit to Tunis and the tension prevailing currently in the Arab states, "the multiple anti-Israeli demonstrations and Washington's taking the side of Tel Aviv despite of the killed and injured."

Cohen's visit concerns with the bilateral military relations for that Washington is of Tunis' most important military partners for selling and maintaining weapons.
