Journalists protection committee calls for investigating Israel over harassment

The committee in charge of protecting journalists on Friday called on Israel to investigate wounding at least 8 journalists working with world news agencies by the bullets of the Israeli occupation forces during the bloody confrontation in the occupied Palestinian territories.

The ME program coordinator at the non- governmental policy for Journalists protection committee stressed that the use of violence against journalists to prevent them from carrying out their duty is considered a grave violation to the freedom of the press.

The committee said that a correspondent for the French TV was beaten by the Israeli police after he refused to hand over a rubber bullet he picked up from the floor and two others are still receiving medical treatment caused by rubber bullets.

Among the wounded journalists during the confrontation were Hazem bader, the ABTA for photographs. Khaled Abu Aker, the employee at the France 2 TV, Amer al-Jaabri, the photographer for SBC News and Mazin Dana the photographer for Reuters TV and the photographer for Reuters Louai Abu Haikal.
