Fuel prices in Morocco will not increase in october
Morocco, Economics, 10/6/2000
The government has announced that it will not increase fuel prices in the month of October, in view of the impact the increase would have on several sectors, including transports, agriculture and industry and on the purchasing power.
A statement of the prime minister's office announced that a meeting was held last Tuesday to examine effects that an increase of fuel prices would entail. It was decided that the compensation board would bear $ 44.8 million to subsidize the prices.
The statement recalls that between August 1999 and October 2000, the state budget paid $ 291 million to stabilize oil products on internal markets.
