British - Australian oil exploration in Jordan

The Jordanian natural resources authority and a coalition from the British company Star Petroleum and the Australian Black Rock signed an understanding note for drilling for petroleum in he northern heights area of Jordan.
Engineer Maen El Hayari, the general manager of the authority said that "signing the note came in framework of Jordan's attempts to find local energy resources."
He clarified that the one year note comprises development Geological studies by the coalition in north Jordan to evaluate the possibilities of petroleum presence in the area which is nearly 8,000 square kilometers and determining the geological compositions to check it in a later phase."
