Libya asks OPEC countries to back its candidate for trusteeship position

Libya entered into the competition for the post of the secretary general for OPEC to join Saudi Arabia, Iran and Iraq which nominated names for this post.
Informed sources in OPEC said that Libya nominated Shokri Ghanem for the post of the general trusteeship after the failure of the three countries' candidates to win the post. To win the post requires the unanimity of the 11 member countries.
The Gulf states support the Saudi candidate Seliman El-Herbish while Iran insists on its candidate and Iraq insists on its candidate.
Abd El-Amir El-Ibnari, who has a good chance to win the post and Iraq's consent remains on the top list of candidates to win this post.
