Six people wounded in confrontation in Yemen

The Yemeni police confirmed on Thursday that 6 Yemenis were seriously wounded in confrontation took place with demonstrators in al-Dale city in Southern Yemen.

A citizen said the "demonstrators organized a demonstration in the downtown of the city in protest of the deteriorated economic conditions, but the policemen interfered and opened fire on them." Another eye-witness said that " two policemen were wounded during the confrontation which were organized for the second running day."

A Yemeni police official who asked not to be identified said that " four persons were strongly wounded because of the bullets."

Worthy mentioning that two soldiers were killed and 3 wounded in September in confrontation between the Yemeni army and villagers in al-Dale when members of contingent 35 who are stationed in the province attempted to arrest Saleh Hassan Salhi, former official in the opposition Yemeni Socialist Party who resorted to the village of Qarad in the same province.
