Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak received a phone call from the US secretary of state Madeleine Albright that was followed by another call from the Palestinian President Yasser Arafat them followed by a third one from the Israeli prime minister Ehud Barak. The communications confirmed not reaching results in the three-way meeting among them. The chairman of the Damascus chamber of industry Yahya al-Hindi has stressed that businessmen in Syria, industrialists and traders in the country's provinces will meet on Saturday at the Damascus federation of the chambers of commerce to discuss the issue of increasing salaries and wages for workers in the private sector.
