Mubarak extends invitations for Arab summits
Regional, Politics, 10/5/2000
Egypt's Foreign Minister Amr Moussa has announced that President Hosni Mubarak will during the few coming hours extend official invitations to the Arab presidents, kings and rulers to convene the Arab summit.
In statements he made on Wednesday Moussa added that Egypt is continuously contacting each of Syria and Saudi Arabia in order to draw the items and schedule of the summit in a way serving Arab rights and the higher Arab interests.
To this effect, Yemen on Wednesday informed the Arab League AL its total backing to the invitation extended by Presidents Bashar al-Assad and Hosni Mubarak to convene an Arab summit as soon as possible.
Yemen's permanent representative at the AL Ahmad Lukman said on Wednesday that he had handed over the AL secretary general Ismat Abdul Meguid a message including Yemen's consent to convene an Arab summit for backing the Arab rights and withstanding the Israeli policy which destroys the peace process, in committing the ugliest crimes against the Arab citizens in the occupied Arab lands.
