Syrian students protest against Israeli massacres

Hundreds of Syrian, Palestinian and Arab students from Damascus university today held a demonstration which staged several streets in Damascus in protest of the massacres committed by the Israeli occupation forces in the occupied Palestinian territories.

The demonstration started from in front of the faculty of law at Damascus university and staged President " Hafez al-Assad 's bridge" up to Abu Rummaneh streets. Upon the arrival of the demonstrating students at al-Rawda square, where the premises of the US embassy in Damascus, the demonstrators threw stones and bottles at the doors and windows of the embassy. A matter which resulted in breaking the glass of the windows and doors of the outer part of the embassy and its lamps.

The demonstrators denounced the Israeli aggressions and chanted anti US and Israel slogans and they burnt Israeli flags. One demonstrator sneaked into the security belt imposed by the Syrian security forces. He climbed the wall of the embassy and tore down the flag, threatening that if any security man will bring him down he will throw himself from high. Later the security men at the embassy and the Syrian security men arrested him while Palestinian women were sitting at the side door of the embassy calling for the release of the young man ( fawaz) who climbed the wall and tore down the American flag.

Upon the students' attacks of the embassy, the policemen opened tear gas bombs and used sticks and water pipes to disperse the demonstrators and this resulted in 15 wounding in the line of the police and the demonstrators who were all treated by the Syrian red Crescent society.

The demonstration was attended by lawyer Muhammad Amouri from Nayef Hawatemah group, Ahmad Barqawi from Damascus university and Ali Abu al-Hassan the professor for Palestine subject at the universities of Damascus and Aleppo.

Several women and youths who were dressed in black and had on their necks the Palestinian flags clashed with the security forces who were always in a defense position to prevent the demonstrators from attacking the embassy.
