Iran requests emergency OIC meeting over Palestinian events
Iran-Palestine, Politics, 10/4/2000

Iranian President Mohammed Khatami whose country is presently chairing the Organization of Islamic Conference (OIC), called this Wednesday for an emergency meeting of the OIC foreign ministers to "take a coordinate initiative" against Israel.

The Iranian radio said Khatami has asked the OIC secretary general, Azeddine Laraki, to summon a meeting of foreign ministers of the Organization.

The meeting would examine the situation in the Middle East and take a coordinated initiative against the "Zionist regime."

Clashes have been opposing unarmed Palestinians to Israeli soldiers since Thursday, killing at least 60 Palestinians.
