Libyan president due in Jordan wednesday
Jordan-Libya, Politics, 10/4/2000

Libyan President Muammar Al-Qaddafi is due to arrive in Amman Wednesday on a three-day visit, the second since 1983, at an invitation by Jordan's King Abdullah II.

An official statement said Qaddafi will arrive to the Red Sea city of Aqaba in the evening for official talks. The two Arab leaders will tackle bilateral economic and political ties.

The two states have recently boosted their cooperation in water and irrigation fields. Contacts and visits by officials from the two countries have increased since king Abdullah was crowned on February 7, 1999.

King Abdullah visited Libya twice, along with Crown Prince Hamza Bin Al-Hussein and the minister of water and irrigation Kamel Mahadein, who held extensive talks regarding the water problem in Jordan.

Qaddadfi will visit the Al-Dissi project south of Maan, which supplies Amman with water. Libya is partly financing the $ 600-million project.
