Israeli army admits killing of Palestinian child, father calls for revenge

Chairman of the operation department at the Israeli army Geyoura Iland said on Tuesday that the Palestinian child Muhammad al-Derra who was killed while in his father's hand in Gaza strip on Saturday in a very dramatic scene shown by the world media, seemed to have been killed by Israeli fire bullets.

He expressed regret over this incident. He told the Israeli radio " It was a grave event. All of us feel regret about it." He continued " we have made investigations and we have understood that the fire was opened from Israeli soldiers at Natsareim inspection point."

On Tuesday the father of the killed child made an appeal from Amman -Jordan, where he is receiving medical treatment " calling on the whole of the world to have revenge for him from Israel."

Meantime, the US President had expressed his strong regret for the pictures depicted by world TV of the killing of the child but he avoided direct criticism against the Israeli forces or to hold them responsible for that.

Meantime, the Israeli minister of regional cooperation Shemon Peres considered in an interview with the French Private radio ( Europe 1) that the killing of the Palestinian child was " a catastrophe for us and all of you" but he added that this killing cannot be deliberate."
