Morocco, Culture, 10/3/2000
Morocco celebrated Monday the Arab Child Day held this year under the heading ''Children's Rights at the gates of the 3d Millenium''.
The event is the opportunity to underscore efforts to be exerted at the Arab States League level in favor of Arab children to meet their expectations for a better future, said a release of the department in charge of women condition, family and childhood protection and the disabled reinsertion.
The Arab children's rights declaration set up by the League is a basic platform for the protection and promotion of childhood as a priority, said the release adding action programs ought to be launched and result in an inter-Arab partnership to pave the way to participation to the emergency session of the United Nations general assembly on childhood slated for the year 2001.
Morocco celebrated last year, in a Nation-wide week, the 12th anniversary of the UN Children's Rights Convention (1989) ratified by the Kingdom June 14, 1993.
