Babel's festival's participants call for lifting the embargo on Iraq

Participants in the activities of the 12th session of Babel's festival in Iraq which was concluded in turning off lights in all parts of the archaeological city before the mid of Sunday night had called for lifting the sanctions imposed on Iraq since more than 10 years.

In a statement quoted by the Iraqi dailies on Monday, the participants expressed their "denunciation to the continued US- British aggression."

Artistic bands representing some 50 Arab and foreign states, took part in the activities of the festival which lasted for ten days, performed art shows on three stages in the city which is four thousand years old, and is 90 Km to the south of the capital Baghdad.

On the sideline of the festival, musical, singing, and cultural activities were organized including an intellectual seminar on the Iraqi antiquities and photo exhibition and visits for the main archaeological sites.
