Iraq calls Arab states to resume flights to Baghdad
Iraq, Politics, 10/2/2000
Iraq on Sunday called the Arab states to resume air flights to Baghdad as a gesture of Arab solidarity.
"Consolidation of Arab solidarity required from Arab countries to be on top of countries who participate in lifting the 10-year long embargo," said Speaker of the Iraqi parliament, Saadoun Hammadi.
After Jordanian and Yemeni landed last week in Baghdad airport, three flights from Egypt, Sudan and Morocco have been announced for this week.
Iraq hopes that the recent international and Arab air flights into Iraq in defiance of the sanctions will turn into a floodgate as Iraq asserts that there are no UN resolutions preventing air flights to Iraq
