Egypt denounces Aqsa bloody events
Egypt-Palestine, Politics, 9/30/2000

Egypt voiced its regret for the bloody violence that flared up in Al Haram A1 Sharif (Noble Sanctuary) in Jerusalem on Friday and urged Israel to take all due measures that would prevent recurrence of such events.

In a statement released on Friday, the presidential palace said that at the time the peace-loving forces were looking forward for a breakthrough in the Palestinian-Israeli negotiations, they have been surprised by the bloody clashes that took place on Friday due to the provocative acts of the Israeli elements who show indifference to achievement of peace.

Feeling deep regret, Egypt urges the Israeli government to take all necessary measures that would stop recurrence of such acts and maintain the necessary atmosphere that would give momentum to the peace process, said the statement.
