OIC members call for an Islamic group within WTO
Regional, Economics, 9/30/2000
Islamic countries inside the World Trade Organization are favorable to the setting up of an Islamic group to gain more weight within the organization.
Economic advisers of Islamic embassies in the Kingdom gathered Thursday in Casablanca on their fourth meeting said the 35 Islamic countries in WTO, which totals 132 members, should unite in a single group to better defend their interests.
They also called for wider economic information flow among Islamic countries to help boost inter-Islamic trade, said general-manager of the Casablanca-based Islamic Center for Trade Development Allal Rachdi.
