Saudi Arabia prevents a Yemeni plane heading to Iraq through its airspace
Saudi Arabia-Yemen, Politics, 9/30/2000
Yemeni official sources said that Saudi Arabia prevented on Friday a Yemeni plane heading to Baghdad from flying in its airspace, a matter which obliged the plane to return back to Sanaa.
A Yemeni official who asked not to be identified said that the plane returned back to Sanaa after 30 minutes of its taking off because the Saudi authorities refused to permit it to fly in its airspace without the permission of the UN sanctions committee.
Earlier in the day, an official source announced that a Yemeni plane carrying an official delegation led by the foreign minister Abdul Qader Bajmal left Sanaa on Friday heading for Baghdad to provide humanitarian aids to the Iraqi people.
