Al-Assad confers with al-Tureiki

Syria's President Bashar al-Assad on Thursday received the secretary of the people's general committee for African unity in Libya Ali Abdul Salaam al-Tureiki.

Talks dealt with the general condition in the region, bilateral relations between Syria and Libya and issues of mutual concern.

In the evening, Vice- President Abdul Halim Khaddam met with al-Tureiki and discussions dealt with conditions in the region and bilateral relations between Syria and Libya Moreover, the speaker of the Syrian People's Assembly Abdul Qader Qaddoura discussed with al-Tureiki fraternal relations between Syria and Libya especially in the parliamentary field and means of developing them for the interests of the two sisterly countries.

Talks also dealt with common Arab issues and the need of revitalizing the role played by various Arab establishments and to accelerate the cycle of Afro-Arab cooperation in all fields.

In this respect, Qaddoura stressed that among Syria's main priorities is to achieve Arab solidarity.

For his part, the Syrian foreign minister Farouk al-Shara discussed with al-Tureiki current Arab conditions and means of revitalizing joint Arab work.
